Why Join Ask.Listen.Save.?

You can make a difference.
Members of Ask.Listen.Save. strive every day to have an impact on the UW-Madison Campus and beyond. By joining Ask.Listen.Save., you would be part of an organization dedicated to the promotion of suicide prevention and the destigmatization of mental illness. You would be assisting in educating your peers, spreading awareness about suicide and mental illness, devising strategies to promote the prevention of suicide, and making your campus a safer and healthier place for all students.
You can choose your own time commitment.
Ask.Listen.Save. offers different levels of involvement to suit every student's needs and abilities. At the basic level, anyone is welcome to come to or volunteer at our events. However, if you are looking for more, you can become an Active General Member or apply to be an Ambassador or Executive Board Member. We also have three committees - Outreach, Walk, and Workshop - that are bound to meet your needs.
You can make lasting friendships.
Ask.Listen.Save. is dedicated to the inclusion of all students. Our organization strives to promote interaction and collaboration among all of our members. We hold a variety of General Member Events meant to reduce stress and increase bonding among our members. Throughout the year, we also collaborate and work closely with other student organizations or campus departments. We support the well-being of all of our members, and promote an environment of respect and honesty within our events, meetings, and committees.
You can gain recognition.
Members of Ask.Listen.Save. can enjoy being part of an organization that has been honored on campus, as well as on the national level. Ask.Listen.Save. works closely with University Health Services and The Dean of Students Office to support our mission. These networks help open many opportunities for our cause and for our members. Our work on campus does not go unnoticed, and we have received a number of campus awards, including taking home the Dean's Award of Excellence at the 2014 Bucky Awards. On a national level, Ask.Listen.Save. is an honorary member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and has had the #1 Out of the Darkness Campus Walk for four years now. Many Ask.Listen.Save. members also serve as interns or field advocates for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
